Northern Michigan Man Claims to be ‘Exchanging Presents’ with Bigfoot for Two Years

In general, bigfoot makes fleeting appearances in eyewitness accounts, blurry photos and a lot of shaky videos. But bigfoot is alive and well in northern Michigan, according to one resident who claims he has been trading handmade gifts with the creature for nearly two years.

Casey Dostert, or @fowl_mitten_outdoors on TikTok, created his page to share his love of the outdoors. But some of his most popular TikTok posts, racking up thousands and sometimes millions of views, include “interactions” with a suspicious creature Dostert said is bigfoot. He even said they have become friends.

According to the videos, Dostert leaves small food items on a rock he’s named the “gifting rock,” and finds “simple handicrafts” left by bigfoot in return. One TikTok user, likely spooked by the footage, wrote beneath the second video: “I highly suggest carrying clear quartz with you! It will help keep anything negative from sticking to you and coming home.”

Not everyone is convinced by Dostert’s posts, with one TikTok user commenting: “You all know this is a big joke?” Dostert is not alone in sighting a mysterious being in the dense forests of northern Michigan. There have been multiple sasquatch sightings reported there — enough to create an annual U.P. Bigfoot Convention, founded by Richard Meyer. “We wanted to spread the news, basically, that bigfoot is real, a real thing and in Michigan — specifically the Upper Peninsula,” Meyer told WWJ News in 2021.

He and others in the group claim there’s plenty of evidence that a number of these fabled, humanoid creatures exist in the wilds of Michigan. For instance, Meyer said they have footprints. As far as just how many could be in the U.P., Meyer said it’s hard to know. He said they’ve had “multiple sightings,” including of family groups of anywhere from two to 10 bigfoot at once.

“There’s a breeding population of Bigfoots, for them to have been around as long as they are … So it’s more than one creature,” he told WWJ News. “There’s males and females, old ones and young ones.” (Midland Daily News, 12 Oct 2022)
